あきらめなければ、それは失敗じゃない

こんにちは。KOSHIN学院の塾長、瀬下（セシモ）です。

今日は、若い皆さんにどうしても伝えたいことがあります。
それは――**「あきらめるな！」**というメッセージです。

この言葉は、ただの根性論ではありません。
私自身、何度も何度も「あきらめたい」と思ったことがあります。
塾を運営していく中で、思うようにいかないこと、心が折れそうになること、
「もう無理かもしれない」と感じる瞬間は、正直言って数えきれません。

でも、そんなときこそ私は自分に言い聞かせるのです。
**「あきらめなければ、これは失敗じゃない」**と。

成功とは「続けた人」にだけ訪れる

世の中には、才能がある人、環境に恵まれた人、運が良い人――
いろんな人がいます。でも、私がこれまで見てきた中で、
本当に成功した人に共通していることは、たったひとつ。

**「続けた人」**です。

どんなに苦しくても、どんなに遠回りしても、
途中で投げ出さずに、コツコツと努力を積み重ねた人だけが、
最後に「成功」という景色を見ることができるのです。

あきらめたくなるのは、当然のこと

勉強がうまくいかないとき、部活で結果が出ないとき、
友達関係で悩んでいるとき、将来が不安なとき――
人は誰でも、心が折れそうになります。

私だってそうです。塾長として、保護者の方々やスタッフ、
そして何より生徒たちの未来を背負っているという責任感の中で、
「もう限界かもしれない」と感じることは何度もあります。

でも、そこで踏みとどまる。
一歩でも前に進む。
それが「本当の強さ」だと、私は思うのです。

「失敗」とは、あきらめた瞬間に訪れる

テストの点数が悪かった。
志望校に届かなかった。
計画通りに進まなかった。

それらは「失敗」ではありません。
それは「途中経過」にすぎないのです。

本当の失敗とは、自分で「もうやめる」と決めたときに訪れます。
だからこそ、私は生徒たちにこう伝えたい。

**「あきらめなければ、それは失敗じゃない」**と。

小さな一歩が、未来を変える

「頑張れ」と言われても、どう頑張ればいいか分からない。
そんなときは、まず「今日やるべきこと」をやってみてください。

・宿題をきちんとやる
・授業中に先生の話をしっかり聞く
・分からないところを質問する
・早寝早起きを心がける

そんな小さな一歩が、やがて大きな成果につながります。
努力は、すぐには報われないかもしれません。
でも、必ずどこかで報われます。

塾長として、伝えたいこと

私は、KOSHIN学院の塾長として、
生徒たちの「可能性」を信じています。

どんなに今が苦しくても、
どんなに遠回りしていても、
君たちには、未来を変える力がある。

だからこそ、あきらめないでほしい。
途中で投げ出さないでほしい。
そして、成功するまで続けてほしい。

それが、私からの心からのメッセージです。

最後にもう一度、伝えます。

「あきらめるな！」
「あきらめなければ失敗じゃない！」
「成功するまで頑張って続けて欲しい！」

君たちの未来は、君たちの手の中にあります。
その手を、どうか離さないでください。

Hello. I’m Seshimo, the head of KOSHIN Academy.

Today, I have something I really want to tell all of you young people.
And that message is: Don’t give up!

These words aren’t just about willpower.
I myself have felt like giving up countless times.
In running my school, I can honestly say that there have been countless times when things didn’t go as planned, when I felt discouraged, and when I felt like “I can’t do this anymore.”

But it’s at times like those that I tell myself:
If you don’t give up, it’s not a failure!

Success only comes to those who persevere.

The world is filled with talented people, people with a favorable environment, and people with good luck. But from what I’ve seen,
all truly successful people have one thing in common:

They are those who persist.

No matter how difficult it may be, no matter how detours they may take,
only those who persevere and work hard without giving up can finally see the view of success.

It’s only natural to feel like giving up.

When things aren’t going well in school, when you’re not getting results in club activities,
when you’re struggling with friendships, when you’re worried about the future —
everyone can feel discouraged at times.

I’m no exception. As the head of a cram school, I feel a sense of responsibility for the future of parents, staff,
and above all, my students.
There are many times when I feel like I’ve reached my limit.

But I persevere.
Take even one step forward.
I believe that is true strength.

Failure comes the moment you give up.

I got a bad test score.
I didn’t get into my desired school.
Things didn’t go as planned.

Those aren’t “failures.”

They’re merely “intermediate steps.”

True failure comes when you decide to quit.

That’s why I want to tell my students:

“If you don’t give up, it’s not a failure.”

Small steps can change the future.

Even when you’re told to “do your best,” you don’t know how.

When that happens, first try doing what you need to do today.

• Do your homework properly.
• Listen carefully to your teacher in class.
• Ask questions when you don’t understand something.
• Make an effort to go to bed early and get up early.

Small steps like these will eventually lead to great results.
Your efforts may not be rewarded right away.
But they will surely be rewarded eventually.

What I want to convey as the principal:

As the principal of KOSHIN Academy,
I believe in the “potential” of my students.

No matter how difficult things are now,
No matter how detours you take,
You have the power to change your future.

That’s why I want you to never give up.
Don’t give up halfway.
And keep going until you succeed.

That’s my heartfelt message.

Finally, I’ll say it one more time.

“Don’t give up!”
“If you don’t give up, it’s not a failure!”
“Keep working hard until you succeed!”

Your future is in your hands.
Please don’t let go of that hand.
